Soccer Stars was presented by Tata Tea, wherein we provided talented Indian footballers with a unique opportunity to train with one of the world’s most elite football clubs- Arsenal FC. Tata Tea Jaago Re Arsenal FC Soccer Stars- India’s first ever football competition with a linkage to a foreign football club
“Tata Tea Jaago Re Arsenal Soccer Stars Round 3”, was a national tournament for children aged 10 – 15 years from schools across India. It saw participation from ten cities, a total of 6000 budding footballers across 10 cities participated from 500 schools in this tournament-making it one of the largest such sporting activities in the country.
The event had legendary players such as Jamshed Nassiri as the head scout for the competition and other Olympian scouts like Brahmanand Shankwalkar and Premnath Phillips who selected the best 30 boys for the camp which was held at Kolkata between June 1st to June 13th, 2010. From the 30 boys, 16 were chosen to play the at the Arsenal Soccer Festival in Emirates Stadium London and they were trained by the Arsenal coaches.
It is a pleasure to see the boys from our project all making it to the top – Uttam Rai making India proud in the underage levels, Siddharth Singh playing for Jamsedhpur, Gursimrat Singh Gill playing for Mumbai City FC, Chesterpaul Lyngdoh playing for Bengaluru United and Yan Law becoming the youngest AFC A licensed coach in the country.
